i think it’s a generation gap thing

i didn’t like Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, and that’s made me the victim of much derision in softwareland today. including this, which i just got via AIM:

Little does wondergeekjohn know that Cool as Ice is actually a great movie. And “It’s Pat”? Pure genius. Don’t worry, Jodi! The laugh’s on him! 😉

Bosley Crowther, the NY Times critic, didn’t like it much either when it came out – his review is archived somewhere on the ‘net. I admire its technique, but I don’t like it much, and I remember the Cold War quite well, thank you. It’s quite a emotionless movie, and I think it’s gotten overrated over the years.
