trying to simplify

i’ve been overcome with the sudden urge to purge my household of everything. i’ve got too much stuff. a lot of i don’t even want, never even wanted– two couches, two end tables, a recliner. i want it all gone rightthisinstant. only i don’t know how to get rid of it. the dumpsters in back aren’t big enough to just toss in this excess furniture. do i have to call someone to haul it away? do i have to haul it away myself? i want it gone now! and i don’t want to wait until i figure out what i have to do to get rid of it. grrr.

hey, we can trade apartments – my furniture consists mainly of milk crates, and various detritus that other roommates have left behind (please, you think *i* can afford a canopener?)

Put it by the dumpster and I will bet you anything someone will come and take away. I got my furniture from by the dumpster in my complex. Perfectly good furniture it is, too. Not smelly or stained or ugly, just unwanted.

Perhaps the Salvation Army or some other charity with a thrift store will come take it away?

Advertise them in the paper. Sell each for $10-$20 with the caveat that the buyer will have to pick up the items themselves.

You’d be surprised what people will do for a perfectly good $20 sofa.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters will usually come pick up furniture donations. So will some Goodwills.
