will you still love me tomorrow?

last night, jaycie was sick. she had a fever and insisted on being cuddled. i pulled her onto my lap and held her while we watched “monsters, inc.” max didn’t like this one bit.

he sat on the chair next to me and pounded the box of ritz peanut butters. he shot me dirty looks. he sighed heavily. when i decided that ignoring him didn’t seem to be working, i asked him what was wrong.

“max what’s your problem?”
“you don’t love me anymore.”
“what?”
“you don’t love me anymore.”
“yes, i do. i love you so much my heart breaks right in two.”
“no you don’t.”
“yes i do.”
“then why won’t you cuddle me?”
“jaycie’s sick and she wants me to cuddle her.”
“so?”
“that’s not very nice.”
“neither is not cuddling me.”

the argument continued until sister #4 arrived home. at that point jaycie got off my lap and went and laid on the love seat. max was all set to cuddle with sister #4 until he spied my empty lap.

he climbed on with his blanket and monkey and box of peanut buttery ritz and toothbrush and then we watched the rest of monsters, inc.

when the movie was over and i was about to turn it off, he freaked out.

“grody, don’t turn it off. we have to watch the short film about mike’s new car.”
“the short film?”
“yeah the short film.”
“oh, ok.”

that kid’s a freak.
