Afghan Whigs, Gentlemen

yeah, so this one sucked. well it’s not so much that it sucked, it’s more that it sounded like just about every bar band that ever played in the college town of eau claire, wisconsin between 1993-96. not such a good thing.

this cd has flown the coop. in fact i didn’t even have to bring it home from work. todd, our webmaster, strolled by and got all excited by the cd. when he picked up i shouted, “it’s your’s, no backs!” and he’s taken it to it’s new home.

yay!

Long live the Afghan Whigs in the memories and on the turntables of those who loved their passionate music and blistering live shows. Not many bands like them in this age of bands rerecording teh same albums to the oblivious programmed drones that make up music consumers of the US.

“Gentlemen” is one of the most complete albums ever crafted by one band. It was not only the pinnacle of this like-no-other indie band’s too-short career, but it was also one of the last attempts by any band at stretching a complete thought across an entire album. Lomg live the Afghan Whigs indeed.
