Stern Men and i just aren’t getting along all that well. not at all. I picked up this book because the amazon.com reviewer compared ms. gilbert to john irving. in fact, the reviewer said ms. gilbert was funnier than irving. of course i had to read something that was being compared so favorably to my beloved irving.

so far the amazon fruitcake is wrong, dead wrong. i find this novel to be a bit plodding. i don’t like the way things are being revealed, i feel a little bit like i’ve been lied to. the plot twists keep coming fast and furious and i am really not liking that all. of course i’ve am about half-way through and i can already see what’s coming.

just not irving-like at all. if you had any aspirations to read stern men, you might want to think again.
