i’m comin’ out

i just saw the most terrifying commerical ever on tv. it was freaky weird and i can’t believe someone paid money to make something so weird. it’s got all these fit chickies (and one guy’s) mid-drifts all ablaze . . . belly buttons hanging out in all their aerobicized glory. but then things get freaky, because the belly buttons are singing. yes! singing. . . “i’m comin’ out, i want the world to see. . . ” it’s damn scary. singing bellybuttons. yikes!

I’ve since discovered that Jamie Lynn Sigler (“Meadow” on “The Sopranos”) sings the cover of Diana Ross’s “I’m Coming Out” on the commercial. Is this not equally scary?

i was just reading someone’s diary where this guy talking about a scary commercial HE saw. it was for tampons with expanding applicators. i guess the commercial is sort of austin powers themed. funny thing is, i had never even heard of these things! and i buy tampons!

Strange but true: the commercial is for a jeans line, I think Guess, and was directed by Michel Gondry. He is the director of several of Bjork’s video, and the upcoming Human Nature, written by Being John Malkovich’s Charlie Kaufman, who also wrote for funny TV shows Ned & Stacey and Get A Life. I know all this because a friend is a personal assistant for Gondry, and he showed me an early take of the commercial.

So there’s some info for you. The movie is sure to be interesting and entertaining, and I will see it, no matter how disturbing I find singing belly buttons.

    Oh, Levi’s. It’s a commercial for Levi’s.

He’s also directing an upcoming Radiohead video. The guy does good things.
