today, i can’t seem to get past Elvis’ “Everyday I Write The Book”. it’s sandwiched between Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and Elvis’ “Veronica,” but i keep hitting the back button. i don’t want to move on. i just want to listen to Elvis’ write the book.
one of these days i’m gonna make a mix cd of just songs about writing and reading. it’ll include the beatles’ “paperback writer,” soul coughing’s “screenwriter’s blues,” jets to brazil’s, “orange rhyming dictionary” and a bunch of other songs i’ll have to think of.

It would naturally have to include my favorite reading/writing song, Bread’s Diary.
i’ll have to download that when i get home tonight.
Oh my word, I have *so* already made that mix. Beatles, Elvis, Bread, Soul Coughing and a bunch of other stuff. Will you *please* get out of my brain!?!?!?!?! 😀
I love playing “watching the detectives” and “allison” over and over, oh yeah, and “pump it up’. Elvis is getting pretty high browed with some of his new projects. Hey Jodi, maybe you should be a disc jockey!!!!
Bread’s “Diary”!?!? That song is very, very, uber depressing. I rememer being 5 and thinking that the song was a downer. Now I think it’s a about a stalker; It might as well begin, “I broke into her house when she left for work and found her diary underneath the floor-boards where she hid it…”
It’s almost as disturbing as the song “Ain’t too proud to beg”; “You say you wanna leave me, but I refuse to let you go…” Big red alarm bells ringing when I hear THAT line.
And don’t get me started about The Police’s “Every breath you take” (Sting himself even admitted that it’s about an “unhealthy obsession with another person”.)
