1. Ethan Canin told me I was making him nervous. I wasn’t even doing anything creepy. All I did was introduce myself and told him that the e-mail he sent me about my post on America, America made my summer. “Now I’m nervous,” he said. He was so nervous, in fact, that he misspelled a word on the inscription of my book.

2. I was so nervous that when he told me he was having a web site built for him, the first words out of my mouth were, and I quote: “Don’t let it be shitty.”

This is probably why I should never be allowed to interact with the human race. I have much much much more to say about the reading and the night, but my adrenaline is dissipating quickly and I am going to crash.
