Funny fiction Part II

Part I and voila! now Part II.
So now I have to ask, what are some books that you’ve found funny, and if you mention Lamb by Christopher Moore, I will cut you.

Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
I’ve written about this book here and here. It is totally worthy of your time.

Home Land by Sam Lipsyte
Here is what I said about this book in the past, “it’s funny and good and twisted and dark and funny. it’s bitter and sarcastic and just like me if i were a book.”

King Dork by Frank Portman
This was my summer love of 06. This was the book that I told most everyone who ears to go read and if they didn’t laugh and love it that I would buy it from them and find it a home where it could be truly appreciated by someone smart. Probably one of the funniest books I’ve read in the past two years.

Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins
I’ve only read one and a half Robbins’ books. Still Life with Woodpecker is the one I finished. The main characters both have red hair one is a bomber and one is a princess. I don’t think you need to know anymore.

CivilWarLand in Bad Decline by George Saunders
It’s really hard to put into words what it is that makes George Saunders’ stories so good. It’s like some kind of weird magical brilliance that cannot be duplicated, only it kind of is duplicated because there’s some sort of Vonnegutian genius in Saunders’ writing that is reminiscent of Vonnegut but wholly original at the same time. If you understood this paragraph at all, you will love George Saunders.

Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
This one needs no explanation. If you haven’t read it yet you’re severely lacking in one of life’s greatest joys.

An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England: A Novel by Brock Clarke
My favorite novel of last year
