From todays Cross Currents, the newsletter of 89.3 The Current:
We here at The Current are super-pleased to announce the line up for our next Fakebook event, the final in this year’s series, taking place June 16 at the Fitzgerald Theater. Those of you who have been following the Minnesota music scene for the past 20 years or so will recognize the name Laurie Lindeen as singer, guitarist, and songwriter with power-pop trio Zuzu’s Petals. She recently wrote a book, “Petal Pusher: A Rock and Roll Cinderella Story,” which details the struggles of coming of age in the Minneapolis music scene of the 1980s. Rock and roll dreams, love and illness are all part of the story, which Laurie will share live on stage. She’ll be joined on-stage by some of the musicians who played with her and inspired her to provide the soundtrack to her story. Zuzu’s Petals will reunite for the show, and other performers will include her husband, Paul Westerberg, Steve Wynn (of the Dream Syndicate), Lori Barbero (Babes in Toyland), Ed Ackerson, (The 27 Various, Polara) John Munson, (Trip Shakespeare, Semisonic) and perhaps a couple other special guests. Once the full line up is announced and hits the press, chances are these tickets will go flying out of the door, so if you are a fan of this era of music in the Twin Cities, I’d be thinking about calling the Fitzgerald box office right…about…now.
Yeah. And guess who already has front row tickets? That’d be me.
Elvis Costello, Mike Doughty, and Westerberg all in a two month span. I might just die from sheer excitement.
Bought my ticket yesterday. Barring the appearance of hell or high water, I’ll be making my first-ever visit to the land of Mary Tyler Moore…
Sweet! Where are you staying?
Lucky! Please tell me how it turns out (on here at least). And ask Paul to come to Arizona…
