we were sitting in the drive-thru of taco johns (because they have the best bean burritos of all [read both] fast food mexican places in town):
“oh, i’m so hot,” sister #4 said. “can’t you turn on the air?”
“no, feel free to roll down that window next to you.”
“what?”
“roll down the window.”
“how?”
“with that little handle right there.”
“i have to do it the old-fashioned way?”
“well, yeah. how do you think i got mine down?”
“i didn’t notice you were talking and it went down so quickly and smoothly i thought it was automatic.”
“smart ass.”
“i’m so hot,” she said as we were pulling into the apartment’s parking lot.
“it’s like 67 degress, you can’t be that hot.”
“i can’t wait to get upstairs in front of the fan.”
“you got fans?”
“yeah, they even have remote controls. we’re so rich.”
“where did you get those?”
“mom got them at walmart, ericka was so pissed. she loved them until then.”
“heh, i totally understand.”
Yum, Taco John’s. Have a Potato Ole for me one of these days… The only Mexican fast food around here is Taco Bell, which is fine and all, but I do love me some Potato Oles.
I love our Wal-Mart, we live in rural Colorado and now have a big super store. It’s not skanky like a lot of the other Wal-Marts I’ve been in. I can find shirts and pants on clearance for $3.00!!! You can get all your groceries, your nails done, bank, photos of your kids taken, and a haircut in one spot, oh yeah, there’s the restaurant too. I used to go there on winter nights just to get away from the kids, while my husband watched them at home. I’d walk up and down each aisle, taking in the peacefulness. Once when I met a defendant in court for a pretrial conference he told me he had taken the whole day off, I mentioned he could go to the WalMart, which is across the interstate from the courthouse. Our county seat is in our small rural town, even though a lot of residents live closer to the big city in suburbia. He snobbily said there wouldn’t be anything at WalMart that he would buy. (Hey all the shampoos, tampons, laundry detergent, and toilet paper is cheaper there). Well after we had a hearing the snob was sent to jail overnight for coming to court drunk, good thing he had the day off. Now that hard times are hitting us, we had to change our health insurance plan. I called up all the local pharmacies to compare prices of my monthly prescription. WalMart came in at $33.63, the two grocery stores were $50 and $60, and the new Walgreens was $154.00!!! Plus after seeing the great movie, Bend it Like Beckham, I really wanted the soundtrack album. I went into the chain stores in the nearby big city to no avail, I looked on the web and found a Punjab site in Great Britain, where I’d have to pay 16 pounds, which is comparable to Amazon.com’s $26.00 plus shipping for the import album, but WalMart had it online for $13.86, plus $2.87 shipping. Based on empirical evidence, I love our WalMart!!!! Moral: don’t judge a book or store or person by its cover, look inside and find the treasures it contains.
http://www.usaclassactions.com is a rip off. He took my money and did not help me. It is all a scam. Luckily I only lost $2000 before I realized it. I was able to pay another lawer $250 and he got the job done.
Dweebie, the reason we dont like Walmart is because Walmart buys products in countries that use slave laborers, they buy products in countries that violate human rights, they are an unfair competition to small businesses and practice unfair and abusive labor policies in the U.S.A.
OK, enough on Wal-Mart. I wanna get back to Taco John’s. Best thing to order: Potato Oles Bravo. Not only do you get potato Oles, you get the bean burrito filling right on top! This kicks ass! TJ’s is my choice of all Mexican fast food, and I have had it in several states!
Wal-Mart is taking a terrible toll on the american economy. Their retail behemoths have driven many local businesses that pay their employees well out of business. Although Wal-Mart may have slightly lower prices, they get those by doing such things as paying their employees in third world countries 25 cents an hour to work 19 hours a day for 20 consecutive days at a time. Nobody should have to live such a miserable life! How could anyone that considers themselves a Christian support these discusting ethics? BOYCOTT WAL-MART!!!
I have been walmart free for 19 years, just something about having slaves make my tee shirts to save 30 cents. As an economist I can tell you
we are destroying our future in the US and Walmart is leading the way.
Wal-mart sucks. I am quite proud to be wal-mart free for 9 months.
down with walmart! 🙂
Have you read the comments here?
what are your feelings about them?
Yeah, i love cheap stuff and convenience, too, but the whole sweatshop and screwing the american econonmy thing really puts a damper on the new stuff joy.
screw talking about walmart
taco john’s….how i love thee….
from your taco burger (a soft taco on a hamburger bun) to your meat n cheese burritos (burritos with tater tots) to your well-stocked selection of choco-tacos you rule.
Your tortillas are the softest in the business and your meat is oh so zesty.
I love you taco john.
p.s. Saturday is 2 soft tacos for 99 cents
i used to shop at walmart but as soon as i found out all the horrible things that they do, not only to the people who make the clothes but also the people who sell them i stoped. why havent more people found out about all these horrible things? i’m putting together a zine and i want to include an anti-walmart section. if any of you have some good stuff email me:)
your all a bunch of crackheads!! u think walmart is the only company that uses foreign countries?? most everything you own electronically is made in another country, and they get the same damn wages. so, if u take your mind off walmart for a second, here is a couple of stores that use foreign countries:
nike
reebok
sony
nintendo
now, if you have nike or reebok running shoes, or sony tv’s, or a nintendo, than maybe, you should throw them out and find an all american product!! but guess what?? u wont find that much, considering our economy is based on foreign material and labor. get over it, ya buncha whining hippies!!!!!!!
THE PLACE YOU GO TO BUY THINGS YOU DON’T NEED WITH MONEY YOU DON’T HAVE.
I work at wal mart supercenter. People say they work there for the benefits. Then, why do we have to wait 6 months as full time slaves to get any insurance, and then 1 year more for anything major to be covered? The prices are “low” because the pay is 75 cents more than min wage.
The sad part of all this is the the customer base that uses their stores the most, are the same people who has lost their jobs due to the muscle of this company. They are not aware of the force Walmart has on in this country. What would happen if the third world countries who are producing almost 89% of the product sold in Walmart chose to stop doing business with them or our country.
