most every woman i know understands the roll salt and sugar play in keeping her sanity during her monthly bout with menstruation.
today that delicate balance of sugar and salt intake has saved my life.
for me the salt/sugar combination must come in the from of potato chippy products and m&ms. in a pinch doritos will suffice, but i mostly prefer a potato chip– preferably pringles. sadly, there were no pringles available to me tonight when the urgent need for salt and sugar hit. i had to settle for some semi-stale, indeterminate aged ruffles cheddar and sour cream chips.
if i weren’t in such dire need of the salt/sugar 1-2 punch to regain some semblance of sanity, i would have pouted about the lack of pringles.
see, i don’t like ordinary chips too much. not that they aren’t tasty and good, it’s they are just so messy.
i love pringles because of their organization. those lovely stacks of potato chipfood stuffs is just so lovely. each chip the same size– sliding so nicely out of the canister. you can get the perfect serving size the first time, every time.
with pringles there’s none of that jumble of chips hanging out in a bag, dropping chip bits as you reach in for a few. and having to reach in over and over and over again because you only get one decent sized chip.
it’s just a mess.
so tonight i had to settle for the regular chips and lovely caramel m&ms. it was delightful and now my sanity has returned.
This is why I love reading your stuff, Jodi. I learn things I never would have understood. I guess this explains my wife’s rocky road and sour cream and onion potato chip thing, huh?
At last, someone else who understands the wonderfulness of Pringles!
Jodi, do they call caramel M&Ms by that name in the US? Here in Miami they are “dulce du leche” M&Ms.
the package i had from vegas said dulce de leche-caramel on them.
caramel m&ms? all we have are the crispy ones (besides peanut & plain, of course). how sad.
I had the caramel ones in Florida too. They are WAY too good for mere M&M’s.
Nestle Treasures has a caramel filled one that is very nummy, along with a chocolate-cocnut creme filled one that is my favorite.
Glad to see you back on the writing bus, Miss Jodi.
