way back in the way back when i was the editor of my university’s newspaper, i made a rule for my editorial staff.

whenever anyone said something bad about someone, i made them say five nice things to make up for it.

usually these nice things went something like: she doesn’t stink, her socks match her sweater, his brother’s cute . . . things like that.

since i’ve just been totally, totally negative all the live long day, i’m gonna say five nice things about me (but not that i don’t stink, because sometimes i do) (i was gonna say five nice things about someone else, but i gotta stop writing about such stuff, you know what i mean?).

1. [i’ve been sitting here for 12 minutes trying to think of the first thing] i can admit when i am wrong
2. i am filled with boundless love
3. i can forgive
4. i can reach all the high shelves
5. i can laugh at myself
