Hi, I am a 20-something knucklehead who is pissed off when the world doesn’t revolve around me like it should, and this makes me get all bitter because a bunch of 30somethings went to go see another bunch of 30somethings play rock and roll at a time that was not convenient to me. Wah! Instead of blaming the club for the scheduling, I will blame old people. Because you know when you grow up your heart dies and you can’t trust anyone over 30 and the early Hold Steady play time didn’t have anything to do with the post-ironic hipster 20somethings who needed to shake their groovethings to a Radio K DJ at 11 p.m. on a Saturday night.
Also, they let my little brother write for the PiPress, he’s gonna be a good writer. Someday. Maybe.
Um, *someone* left a snarky comment.
There’s a bit of snark in that thread now. None of it mine. I keep my snark here.
“When you grow up your heart dies…” HA! I always think of this line when I see the parties across the street from my apartment that always end in a huge screaming fight.
It’s not so much that your heart dies when you grow up, it’s that your brain really starts living.
Exactly! And I think your brain finally starts to realize that your heart is kind of a drama queen a lot of the time.
Also, if these kids don’t like us at “their” shows, then maybe they should stop co-opting all our shit. Maybe they should start liking bands their own age, and maybe those bands should stop playing music that sounds exactly like the stuff we’ve been listening to since 6th grade. Just sayin’.
i just wish they’d stay off my lawn.
Yeah, I’m with the clown. Keep off my grass.
I read that review not long after I read yours. The kid just missed the point.
Rock and roll means well, but can’t help tellin’ young boys lies.
i agree that the writer is a little shit, but he’s got some pretty funny lines in that review. like the SARS and the 4 p.m. dinner dates. although that’s negated with the overused “threw up on my mouth” that should go wherever you banished the word “douche” to.
Bah! You kids get off my lawn!
