Since I stayed up late the other night putting together a playlist filled with songs sure to rip my heart right out, I thought I should cater to my other personality and put togethr a ‘C’mon Get Happy’ playlist filled with songs that make me smile for some reason or other. However, I just noticed that I forgot to put I Will Dare on the list. Clearly Dawson’s Creek has caused some sort of irreversible brain damage.
Incidentally, I actually had to turn it off last night. Because the episode I was watching had Jack (the gay football player) saying something about how your life just ends when you’re 36. Ouch.
So, C’mon Get Happy includes:
Wild & Lethal, Paul Westerberg
May Queen, Liz Phair
Hot Un, Grandpaboy
C’mon, C’mon, the Von Bondies
853-5937, Squeeze
Me & Mia, Ted Leo and the Pharmascists
Why Can’t I, Liz Phair (the acoustic version)
Fox on the Run, Sweet
Valerie Loves Me, Material Issue
Who’s Johnny, El Debarge
Start the Commotion, The Wiseguys
Confetti, The Lemonheads
Cartoon, Soul Asylum
Polyester Bride, Liz Phair
Jeepster, T. Rex
She Moves in Her Own Way, The Kooks
If I Can’t Change Your Mind, Sugar
Smile, Lily Allen
And a bunch of other songs I will not admit to in a public forum such as this.
If you’ll admit “Who’s Johnny”, what in the hell won’t you ‘fess up to?
I need a ruling here:
If we all engage in guessing songs that you will not admit to, would that violate the unwritten code of blogging ethics? Some rule like ‘4–Thou shalt not highjack threads with unappreciated conjecture!’
(Note: I politely avoided numbering it with the number that shall ever remain between 4 and 6.)
Anyway, I’m guessing she would not admit to ‘Sugar Sugar by the Archies’.
Ruling please?
