sisters #2 and #4 along with stink and the kidlings are in wisconsin visiting relatives (the stink’s) and friends (sister #4’s), leaving sister #2 and i to shape some sort of christmasy type event with tony, cade, and my dad (mamala has to work). neither of us are so good at this.
“what should we eat,” she wailed into the phone.
“i dunno, pizza?”
“does pizza deliver?”
“i dunno, we could get a frozen pizza.”
“dad eats too much frozen pizza.”
“huh.”
“how about we just chuck it all and go to perkins?”
“we could do that.”
“hey tony,” she shouts to her husband. “wanna go to perkins tonight?”
“we can’t go to perkins,” i said. “that’d make us the saddest family on earth.”
“yeah.”
so it was decided i will make chili and she will make grilled cheese and it will be some sort of festivey type christmas event.
now back to wrapping (my favorite part).
Go to a Chinese restaurant and order the duck.
Make sure the duck arrives with the head still attached.
Point out to the waiter that the duck is smiling.
Watch as the waiter lops off the duck’s head with a meat cleaver.
Applaud.
don’t make me come over there and make you a turkey, smashed taters and brussel sprouts!
chili! on xmas! heathens. 😉
Actually, chili sounds pretty good.
Grilled cheese! I’m comin’ to your place!
The lady friend just said that if you have ketchup with the grilled cheese she wants to come too.
it smells delicious too, as i sit here waiting for it to crock and not finishing wrapping up the gifts.
y’all are invited to sister #3’s house around 6ish. that’s when dinner will be ladeled outta the crock.
the ladyfriend will be a fast friend to sister #3. when i offered to pick her up some tomato soup to go with the grilled cheese (she doesn’t like chili) she said, “no, i’ll just eat grilled cheese with ketchup.” and she was perfectly happy with that.
I think the wife is making a turkey AND a ham. She’s very much into this holiday sh…uh, tradition.
