my ever-organized, totally anal best friend visibly pales and starts to shake ever so slightly whenever i talk about getting organized. kari is the very definition of organized. sometimes i just like to sit and watch her zing around her double wide cube pulling stuff out of or filing stuff into all these wonderfully color coordinated binders and file folders.
really, it’s a site to behold. for her birthday she said she’d love it if someone would buy her a new filing cabinent with color-coordinated folders for home. . . or a weed wacker.
can you see why we’re friends?
whenever i talk about organization, kari likes to bring up the fact that once upon a time ago, back when we were both working in customer service and answering 100s of emails a day, i would organize my emails by day of the week. all the emails i answered on monday would go into the monday folder, tuesday in the tuesday folder and so on. kari of course has this multi-folder system with subfolders and subsubfolder organized by the hour of the day and the phase of the moon or some such nonesense.
what amazed her the most was that when someone would ask me about anything i would scratch my head for a minute, and say, “i think that’s in my thursday folder.” and there it would be. yeah, i’m sorta like rainman.
so right now, just this afternoon, i was looking for some legal mumbojumbo that appears on all our landing pages. i sat staring at my overflowing My Documents folder scanning filed named “blurb for deb,” “jazzywtp,” and “stuff” (not to be confused with stuff #42).
after a few minutes i did a search for landing page hooha, and there nestled safely in a folder called various stuffs is a file called “landing page hooha stuff.”
am i a supergenius or what?
I’m with you. I have one directory that contains subdirectories named “Stuff”, “More Stuff”, “Still More Stuff”, “Even More Stuff”, and “Yes, Even More Stuff”.
I’m only of those people that only organizes in spurts. I’m mostly a slob with a pinoche for cleaning up fast.
i assign colours to my folders as if it really means something. all it tends to do is draw my attention to a folder that i don’t quite remember creating.
OH MY GOD!!!!
I can’t believe you have a folder or file called hooha! How did we ever become friends?
But then again, I own a Ms. Spears album, so I can’t get too righteous! 🙂
I do believe that’s supRA genius, dear.
🙂
