Embarcadero is really fun to say. It’s like when Dylan sings Honolu-la and Ashtabula.

Also, thematically appetite does a lot of heavy lifting in Isbell’s songs as a stand in for desire of all kinds (but probably most for alcohol).

They have a cadence with the correct syllable count and fall out of the mouth in a pleasing fashion. I think that might explain his use of appetite. On the other side, Tweedy’s Via Chicago is one of my all time favs, but the word Embarcadero does not work for me. I also don’t know what it means beyond a neighborhood in San Francisco.
