The first time I did it the entire screen and spline were both ripped out of the frame, which is our cats’ MO. They jump up and hang from the screen with all their weight. I also had to build a new frame and screen from a kit, because one of our windows didn’t have a screen, and they don’t make premade screen frames in the weird window dimensions of our 90-year-old house.

The first time you had to replace the screen was the spline an awful bitch to get out? I’m really hoping it gets easier. Well, I’m really hoping the Calico bastard never comes back.

I wish I didn’t know that, but I know it well.

Also whenever I’m replacing spline, that voice from the Sims says in my head, “reticulating splines” over and over.
