This is the kind of customer service that, er, doesn’t serve the customer.

Just keep asking for the manager and the manager’s manager until you find someone who’s human.

I would be physically incapable (well, emotionally) of sending a beloved box set back. Unless I was in a particularly Buddhist mood. Which wouldn’t last.

Make no mistake, I will certainly get a working disc. I did what Kim suggested. E-mailed them my concerns and asked if I could just end back the defective disc.

Send it back. I call bullshit too, and think the 3-5 weeks is a scheme to keep people like you from sending things back.

You say “the idea of just sending something I paid hard-earned money for into the void doesn?t sit well with me.” Well, what about the idea of something you paid hard-earned money for being broken and worthless?

Make them own up to their end of the deal. Or, take the law into your own hands and bittorrent the corrupted episode. But be careful — I got caught doing that with the Wire, and got a cease and desist letter from my ISP.
