Apart from the pretty art, the ending scene in the diner is honestly the only thing I remember about this book. I don’t think I was confused by the story (I’m pretty sure the back story is invented; I don’t think it relies on continuity) but I was consistently disinterested.

I don’t know what either book has to do with Rock n Roll but American Born Chinese should pummel Kingdom Come into Earth Zero.

Couldn’t have been too confusing, you accurately described the plot to a point.

Yes, many superhero books rely on knowledge of conventions and decades of previous storylines.. but this isn’t one of them. This is a self-contained world, explained just enough for the reader to understand the 3 main characters… Bats, Wonder Woman, and your man Kal. The only conventions in this one that I can see being confusing is Alex Ross’ non-uniform use of sequential art. The panels aren’t laid out straight like Peanuts in the paper, or some of the more straight-forward indie comics.

It’s not a perfect story, the whole judgement day angle is over-played, but it’s a far from a shitty one.

BTW- not finishing it means you miss out on the awesome Bruce, Diana, and Clark at the diner scene. Your loss.

Totally disagree, but then, I finished reading it.

& Bats is not evil, but Supes is a joke. & Wonder Woman kicks all kinds of ass.
