I haven’t read this one by Didion but definitely would recommend Slouching Toward Bethlehem. Although I have to say that its cult status detracted from my enjoyment of it. Maybe that makes me a bad person, but I can’t help having much higher standards for books which everyone thinks are aMaZiNg.
