My daughter says I am the slowest reader in the world!! When I told her about a review of a new novel that seemed right up my alley–politics(liberal Democrats),family saga,and prep school(I’m a preppie) I said think I will buy it:what’s not to love!! She said if you finish it by Christmas,I want to read it next. FOUR DAYS after the purchase it is hers to read. I could not put it down. Thank you Ethan Canin for a gripping,topical,and very emotional novel.

This is my favorite novel of the year as well, knocking Metherland off its pedestal (I have a strong suspicion you won’t like Netherland, but I hope I’m wrong).
