One useful antidote to those books might be Lemmy Kilmister’s memoir, White Line Fever. Not a single mention of recoupable debt, anywhere.

I also recommend Gene Simmons’s KISS and Make Up, which surveys the record industry from the perspective of an unreconstructed pecuniary asshole, rather than an indie martyr…
