I enjoy comedies too! High Fidelity is easily in my top 10 favorite movies. Though I think either Almost Famous or Shakespeare in Love is my all-time fave.

I love the music references the most, and all the antics in the movie seem tame in comparison to what I imagine today’s young whipper-snappers are getting into.

Of course, I never did anything bad in high school, so there’s probably a few vicarious thrills involved. The T/A was a high school grad gift, and was quite old by the time I got it…wouldn’t have been this bookish boy’s first choice, but it was pretty cool to a 18-yr. old!

I can appreciate a good movie and good acting, but I enjoy comedies, I guess. As opposed to my book and music choices, I am comparatively an “anti-snob” when it comes to movies.

If I had a Tran Am, Fast Times might be my favorite movie too. I’m no cinephile either. But I just don’t often think of Fast Times as anything more than a tittie movie.

I can barely stay awake through a movie on demand at home. I almost fell asleep during “Atonement” at the theater last weekend, but it was a pretty good movie (and book). Didn’t make me cry, but I am a manly man, of course.

I graduated HS in 1985, so Fast Times really reminds me of that time…playing Pac-Man, listnening to Cheap Trick, drivin’ my Trans Am, etc. Yep, I’m old.
