I totally agree. I’m one of those writers that hates everything as soon as it’s “finished” and wants to change it. I drive my co-workers nuts.

Klosterman may be a pretentious twit (I don’t know, I’ve never read his stuff) but when he says “If I could, I’d completely rewrite Fargo Rock City, and every sentence would be just slightly different. In all likelihood, most of them wouldn’t be any better. Some of them would just be changed back to whatever form they used to be, before I second-guessed myself the first time.” I can certainly appreciate what he’s saying.

I think Killing Yourself started to really diminish my opinion of Chuck, who I loved so much. And well, that shitty short story was the kiss of death.

Of course, I really hope he’s writing a novel, because I SO want to read it.

Damn…the reporter didn’t need to try too hard to make him sound pretentious. “Oh I’m big professional writer man, I don’t do anything all day. I might spend a little time writing, but it’s perfect the first time I shoot it out, so rewriting is for losers,” blah blah blah.

Gotta say, my opinion is slightly diminished.
