					<description><![CDATA[Not to throw a fly in the ointment, but it occurs to me that the different perceptions of beauty in other cultures can help account for differences in self-perceptions of beauty. 

In other words, if American women are inundated by images of what beauty has been culturally defined as, then they&#039;re likely to compare themselves to that, especially if people around them help concretize those notions.

Of course, that could just be the psychologist in me speaking.
