These are Some Things That Happened

  • I lost last week in a rush of crushing health-related anxiety and the euphoric relief when that anxiety was for nothing, then working all the time and then some more anxiety and if you’re keeping track we’re in the euphoric state of relief following crushing anxiety bout #2.
  • Between the bouts I did my taxes. It only hurt a little. I’m pretty much a communist and the only day my tendencies lean toward the capitalistic is on the day I do my taxes. But then I remind myself of the library and feel better. So enjoy it, Comrades.
  • Today, when I was in the bathtub before I had to go out into the world and meet with people I’ve never met before my mom called. My mom called in the middle of my bath and I answered the phone because I’m pretty convinced the only reason my mom is every going to call is to tell me someone is dead. I think of all the times my mom has called me she’s only announced the death of someone once. And that just happened a last month.
  • Anyway may parents are in the midst of being victims of identity theft which is really fucking annoying. Since it involves computer stuff, it falls into my area of knowledge. Sister #2 gets all things that require forms (insurance, social security, etc.). I get electronic stuff. Apparently, Sisters #3 & #4 get to just sit around and look cute.
  • Last night my niece, Jaycie, said, “I listened to Lydia Loveless when I went running today.” That made me super happy.
  • Speaking of last night, I must have slept goofy last night because I have a very real pain in my neck and turning my head to right hurts like a motherfucker.
  • Oh, the current state of euphoric relief comes courtesy of Memphis’ return at 2 p.m. this afternoon*. Memphis is my nephew Maxwell’s really stupid, but still kind of charming seven-year-old cat who managed to escape the house and go missing for the past three days. There was much worrying and heartbreak and crying (only a little of it was mine).
  • *the time of Memphis’ return is only important in that it happened just as I was starting the meeting with the people whom I’ve never met before and of course I forgot to turn off my phone because that’s the kind of person I am. I didn’t check my phone in the meeting, however I did turn it off and throw it into my bag.
  • Did you know that back in my day we called 7-inch records 45s? Why the name change? I got a new 7-inch by Dan Wilson. I haven’t listened to it yet.
  • This weekend I did nothing but sleep and watch Veronica Mars. It was glorious. I have a theory regarding Duncan vs. Logan as Dawson vs. Pacey and if it’s possible I might dislike Duncan more than Dawson, not that I have to worry about it anymore because Duncan is in Australia now.

I have a couple 7″ records that play at 33 1?3 rpm, so it wouldn’t be accurate to call those 45s. I played one all the way through once before noticing I was playing it at the wrong speed. It was an instrumental and sounded pretty good. I guess I’m no audiophile.

This probably has nothing to do with the name change, though. It might just be a hipster thing.

(Did you know that your website is breathing? I swear the stuff over on the right is gently undulating. It’s freaking me out so much that this comment took eleven minutes to write.)

I like 45s better and I will call them 45 even if they play at 33 1/3.

Also, if you suddenly have the urge to send me zillions of dollars it has nothing to do with the hypnotic undulating of the website. Not at all.

Ahh, it’s the ever-changing Jodi quotes up top that are causing the “breathing”. It’s suddenly no longer creepy.

So I shouldn’t wait by the mailbox for the zillion dollar checks to start rolling in?

I will add you to the list of people who I will support financially should I ever win the lottery, but I wouldn’t start looking for those checks just yet.

      I haven’t watched the movie yet. I’m only 1/2 through Season 3.

So you got Logan and Riggins and I got Pacey & Saracen, right? I need some sort of spreadsheet to keep track of this.

I think we scrap it all and have shared custody of all of them. We’re reasonable adults.

“I got a new 7-inch by Dan Wilson.” You’re writing about a record, yes?
